Valheim Console Commands and Item Spawn IDs (1.0 Full List)

Valheim console commands let you spawn items, skip time, fly around your world, and run your server. This guide covers every command that works in Valheim 1.0 (Deep North, released September 9, 2026), how to open the console on each platform, and what cheats now do to your achievements.

How to Open the Console in Valheim
The console is turned off by default. Since patch 0.221.4 you can switch it on in the gameplay settings, or force it on with the -console launch option.

Once the console is open:
- Type

Cheats and Achievements in Valheim 1.0
Valheim 1.0 added achievements, and cheats now affect them:
- Most cheat commands, such as
spawn, flag your character and world so they can no longer earn achievements. A few, such asfreefly, do not. - Hammer mode counts as a temporary cheat.
- Items created with cheat commands are marked as cheated item in your inventory. A clean character that picks one up enters a temporary cheat state.
- If you have already used dev commands and still want achievements, hotfix 1.0.12 added an opt-in command:

Using Cheats on a Dedicated Server
Cheat commands only work in single player or in a world you host from your own game. They do not work on a dedicated server, and being on the server's admin list does not unlock them. To use cheats on a dedicated server, install BepInEx and the Server devcommands mod. On a Host Havoc server you can install BepInEx in one click. Emote commands also work without cheats: challenge, cheer, nonono, point, sit, thumbsup, wave.
Admin Commands for Valheim Servers
These work on a dedicated server when your SteamID64 or crossplay player ID is listed in the server's adminlist.txt. Bans and whitelists live in bannedlist.txt and permittedlist.txt, and both accept the older Steam_ ID format and the newer V_ format.

Cheat Commands (devcommands Required)
Movement and Survival

Debug Mode Keys
Type debugmode to toggle debug mode, then use these keys:

Event IDs: army_eikthyr, army_theelder, army_bonemass, army_moder, army_goblin, army_gjall, army_seekers, army_charred, army_charredspawners, foresttrolls, blobs, ghosts, skeletons, surtlings, wolves, bats, hildirboss1, hildirboss2, hildirboss3. Deep North added two new raids, but their event IDs have not been published yet.
New Dev Commands in Valheim 1.0
The 1.0 update added 19 dev commands. Iron Gate has not published descriptions outside the game, so type help in the console to read what each one does in your version:

Why does F5 not open the console?
The console is off by default. Turn it on in the gameplay settings or add -console to your launch options, then restart the game.
Do console commands disable achievements in Valheim?
Most cheat commands flag your character and world so they can't earn achievements, and cheated items are marked. Type yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway to opt back in.
